Location and History:
Lonar Lake is an astounding place famous for its unusual natural phenomenon. The lake was formed when a huge meteor fell on the earth long ago. It is located on the outskirts of Lonar town in Buldhana. The district Buldhana is located in the state of Maharasthra in India. In the modern world the Lonar lake was discovered by J E Alexander in the year 1823. However, mentions of the crater have been found in ancient scripts such as Skanda Puran, Padma Puran and Aaina-i-Akbari.
