For history lovers, Lothal is a must see site that was once a significant trade center of the Indus Valley Civilization dating 2400 BC. Lothal literally means the Mound Of The Dead. Over here one gets to see the splendid remains of a four thousand year old well designed town. It is simply breathtaking to see how an ancient civilization, people with practically no technical knowledge, was much-much ahead of their time in so many ways. Discovered much recently in 1954, Lothal was excavated from 1955 to 1960 by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
