Udupi is the famous temple city in South India. Udupi is better known for the Krishna temple established by Madhavacharya, the great Sanskrit scholar in the thirteenth century. The legends say that Madhavacharya rescued a Krishna image from the remains of a shipwreck and installed the same where the great Krishna Temple stands as of date.
