Matheran is the nearest hill town from Mumbai. This hill town was discovered by Britishers in the 19th century and later on it was developed into a favored summer retreat. It is at a height of eight hundred meters above the sea level. This tranquil hill station renders a relaxing escape from the scorching heat of the town. The fact that makes this town a favored destination amongst city dwellers is that all vehicles are prohibited here, no cycles allowed either. Anyone who wishes to escape from the numbing traffic and pollution of the city should come to this city for a nice calming break.
