The Messiah of Yoga

by Mansi Agarwal
In two-and-a-half short years, Swami Ramdev has galvanized the great Indian public into turning ardent practitioners of yoga and pranayama. In the process, millions are losing weight, healing from various ailments and making a bid for optimum wellness.

Sneak into any household in India between 5 and 7 am and chances are good that you will find someone sitting cross-legged in front of the television intently following the instructions of a saffron-clad sanyasi, with disheveled shoulder length hair, eyes that are just slightly crossed and shoulders that are tilted to one side. As the swami parts the folds of his angavastram, he reveals a sinuous, fit physique and when he practices his trademark kapal bhatti, his stomach subsides into a deep hollow, sharply outlining his ribs. No prizes for guessing the name of the yogi. Could it be anyone other than Swami Ramdev?

Magic Through the Hands

by Mansi Agarwal

Chiropractic is a non-invasive therapy that cures an array of health problems through aligning the vertebrae and removing restrictions on the spinal nerves.

"I was suffering from a slipped disc. But a few sittings of chiropractic, followed by a strict diet, made all the difference," says Kamini Mathur.

Chiropractic, which essentially consists of restoring spinal alignment, is not new, though it has become more specific and understandable with time. Profound in its emphasis on the importance of a practical and healthy lifestyle, it also stresses drug-free and surgery-free treatment. Life is Calling

by Mansi Agarwal
The month of April is the time for new beginnings and new life as cultures everywhere celebrate spring.

The sun is waxing geniality and good cheer. There's a new spirit and bounce in the sparrow's chirp. Tiny buds have appeared on the tips of the barren arms of the trees. Blades of grass have eagerly speared up from every spare inch of ground. Flowers are daring to peep out again, awakened from their winter slumber by the sun's tender touch. A gentle breeze blows, setting leaves aflutter with excitement, and whispering untold secrets. Butterflies are once again hovering busily over blooms and farms. Kids run barefooted across the hayfields. And farmers rejoice over their lush harvest. With the start of the Spring Equinox, the season that celebrates renewed life of the earth has arrived. Yes, spring is here.

Restoring Vitality

by Mansi Agarwal

Periodic detoxification of body and mind ensures good health and considerably delays aging.

When a friend suggested that she might need to 'detoxify', she was amused and retorted, "I am not an industrial dumpyard, to be full of toxins."

Music of the Spirit

by Mansi Agarwal

Classical singer, Shruti, feels that music is a link to the purest force and believes in the innate power of chanting.

A Day in My Life
One word to describe a day in my life is, flexible. Just as seasons change each year, similarly, different kinds of manifestations have different times of the day, when they manifest out of our spirit. My music also flows out accordingly. Sometimes I feel like doing a morning raga so I do it in the morning. Sometimes I feel like doing a late night raga so I do it at night. I do not have any fixed time to wake up or go to sleep. Sometimes I work through the night; I sleep very little, normally four to six hours. So I wouldn't say that I have any fixed day or night, they are wholly flexible.
